What we do
UWC Kiribati National Committee was established in the middle of 2017 after a consideration and the approval by the UWC International Office in the UK. The UWC Kiribati National Committee is working in partnership with the Kiribati Training Centre for Professional Development (KTCPD) to conduct a project in relation to the promotion and the outreach and awareness about the UWC movement throughout the Kiribati Group.
The purpose of the project is to visit all secondary schools and local communities throughout Kiribati in making everyone knows the mission and the core values of the UWC movement in the hope of increasing the number of potential candidates to apply for UWC scholarships every year around. Not only that but we also humbly ask every individuals and members of the public at large to contribute and donate to our Trust Fund so that we can provide additional scholarships and offer full financial support to our local local students when they are successfully selected to further their study in any of the UWC schools/colleges abroad.
We are about to launch our fundraising activities in the Capital Tarawa and the outer-islands as well in the hope of raising $200,00 so that we can financially support our selected students who will receive partially funded/unfunded scholarships this year and beyond. Accordingly I humbly appeal to individuals, registered companies, and especially to our government to make contribution for this purpose.
The Office of the UWC Kiribati National Committee is operated under the management and administration of Mr. Tamuera Rikare, Coordinator of the UUWC Kiribati National Committee and assisted by three volunteer staff and five elected members of the Selection Panel.
UWC Kiribati National Committee is committed to fully support the mission of the UWC International movement which make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. In addition, UWC Kiribati National Committee is also committed to help youths to improve their education and lives and will contribute to the building of poverty eradication, lasting development, and intercultural dialogue, with education as the key to achieve these goals.
