Who we are and what we do

UWC Kiribati National Committee was established in the middle of 2017 after an application made by Tamuera Rikare was considered and the approved by the UWC International Office in the UK. The UWC Kiribati National Committee is part of the United World Colleges (UWC) movement, which makes education a force to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. It functions within the values of international and intercultural understanding, celebration of difference, personal responsibility and integrity, mutual responsibility and respect, compassion and service, respect for the environment, a sense of idealism, personal challenge, and action and personal example.

UWC Kiribati National Committee commits itself to offer the following services:

  1. To select students from Kiribati and prepare them to become UWC scholars.
  2. To promote international education through our UWC scholarship offer and we  prepare students to work in the labour movement, in government, non-profit, in human resources, and the corporate world as leaders and activists for change.
  3. To organise UWC short courses for the advancement of knowledge and new skills
  4. To empower youths and give them the confidence in themselves.

UWC Kiribati National Committee is committed to fully support the mission of the UWC International movement which make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. In addition, UWC Kiribati National Committee is also committed to help youths to improve their education and lives and will contribute to the building of poverty eradication, lasting development, and intercultural dialogue, with education as the key to achieve these goals.UWC Kiribati National Committee is committed to fully support the mission of the UWC International movement which make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. In addition, UWC Kiribati National Committee is also committed to help youths to improve their education and lives and will contribute to the building of poverty eradication, lasting development, and intercultural dialogue, with education as the key to achieve these goals.

The Office of the UWC Kiribati National Committee is operated under the management and administration of Mr. Tamuera Rikare, Coordinator of the UUWC Kiribati National Committee and assisted by three volunteer members. 

Hence, in my capacity as the UWC Kiribati National Committee Coordinator, I humbly ask you individually to join us in our efforts in promoting and supporting our mission and our services so that our next younger generations will achieve their international education through UWC colleges and schools.
